in 2008 Season and A Little Fun.
Sorry that it’s been a long time since my last blog. But, it is that time of the year again when your hopes are high and you’re eager to get started, so thought I would start the year with a blog entry. Testing in Daytona starts this week and I’m excited to get behind the #9 wheel with new sponsor Budweiser. We both want to get back into Victory Lane this year and do it often.
But first, I get to have a little fun in Tulsa, Oklahoma of all places. This week is the Chili Bowl, which many call the Super Bowl of Midget Racing. The first time I ever went to the Chili Bowl was with my dad in 1994. We flew out from Seattle and had a blast just as fans. I think Andy Hillenberg won that year and it was such a good time that ever since then I’ve wanted to race in it. I think I’ve raced probably five of six times in the Chili Bowl now. It’s exciting and fun. The crowd is excited. Tons of cars. Tons of drivers. It’s cool to be a part of.
What makes it really unique is that it’s a quarter mile dirt track located indoors in front of 10,000 plus fans. There’s cars bouncing off each other and people wrecking. Everybody is so crazy and wild, including the fans. Winning it gives you bragging rights for the year.
If you can’t make it to Tulsa (I hear tickets sold out months ago), then you can still see the action on pay-per-view TV on Saturday night (Jan. 12) via your local cable or satellite TV operator.

After Saturday night, it’s all business.

in 2007 Season.
It has been a tail of two different seasons this year. Our short track teams have been awesome, especially my Open Joist, Team ASE, Sage Fruit, Curb Records Mopar powered World of Outlaw Series team as Joey Saldana has remained either first or second in the point standings the entire year. Our Mopar sprint car team has consistently been very fast. On the other hand, we have our work cut out for us on the Nextel Cup side, thus the tail of two different seasons. I’m an optimist so I am still not counting out our chances to make the Chase this year. I know the team guys are very committed and working very hard to address our performance challenges. We learned some things in the all-star race and we were fast at times, so I’m looking forward to racing this weekend and continuing to improve on our performance.
I’m looking forward to Speedweeks in Charlotte this week. We are announcing a new partnership tomorrow surrounded by a national media campaign and on Friday I will be back on Tyron Street in Charlotte at an appearance with Gillette. Hopefully some of you will be able to make it to Charlotte to enjoy the festivities.
I have a few friends in from Washington and we are looking forward to a nice day next Monday to spend a much needed off day relaxing on the lake.

Hello everybody!
The Daytona 500 is behind us now. Not a bad start of the season overall.
I am getting up to speed with my Infield Parking space. I am very excited to start the season off with the opportunity to interact with you directly. This is going to be a lot of fun. Thank you to everyone who supports me, my crew, Evernham Motorsports and Dodge every week. It’s going to be a great 2007!
