Hello Everyone:
Thank you for all the support and interest. I am currently taking some
time and exploring several different options. This was a very tough
pill to swallow as I’m sure all of you can understand. I have had a
lot of fun with everyone on Infield Parking and look forward to having
more to say very soon. To all the folks in the Navy I am very grateful
for the opportunities that were presented to me and all of the bad ass
stuff that I got to do, and I had a lot of fun. You all are awesome
and thanks for all the memories that I will never forget, and
especially thank you for the job that you do for us. I will be in back
very soon with some better pictures and get started on re-doing the
look of my IP page.
Thanks again,
Shane Huffman

This feels like a short week. I’ve gotten used to having an extra day at home the last couple of weeks, and it feels a little strange to already be packing for the weekend. I’m flying out with Dale Jr. in the morning to visit with some Navy SEABEEs in Gulfport, Miss., and then we’re going up to Loudon, N.H., for the weekend. From the the schedule I’ve seen, it looks like we’re going to get to do some cool stuff in Gulfport, so that should be a great way to kick the weekend off. The Navy team has had a great couple of weeks and I plan to continue that this week as well.
You may have already read about it, but they’ve just added a new employee at JRM — Tony Eury Sr. He’s come on to be the director of competition and oversee all of our teams. I think he’ll add a great wealth of knowledge to JRM and serve as a big asset to the Navy team.
I’ll try to check back in with ya’ll on Friday to tell you about the trip and I’ll see if I can get some photos to post as well.
Later, Shane

Hey, everyone! It’s been a low-key weekend in Milwaukee so far. I flew in Thursday night and spent all day yesterday practicing, qualifying and racing the No. 40 Silverado for Key Motorsports. We didn’t have a great run, but I did get a lot of track time that should help out the Navy team tonight. Right now I’m killing some time before qualifying. We practiced pretty well this morning, so we should be pretty decent tonight. This is a pretty cool place with a lot of history. It’s one of the oldest tracks and it’s in the middle of a fairgrounds. There are some really cool looking rides outside.
It’s been a pretty cool week. We had a great run in Kentucky (Thank God!) and I was glad to see Stephen Leicht get the win. He’s a good kid, who’s got a bit of talent. The Navy team was really pumped after that race. It was great to finally get back up toward the front for them. I’m looking for a lot more finishes like that before the season is over.
We’ve got a good car here tonight. I don’t have a ton of experience here, but the seat time from last night should help us some. I also spent some time this week watching old race tapes with Wes. He had one from an in-car camera that was pretty cool. Be sure to tune in to the race tonight to see how it goes!

My week in Nashville started out pretty cool. I joined Scott Wimmer and Brent Sherman in a parade to kick off the CMA Fan Fest activities. It was short, but there were a bunch of fans out cheering us on, so that was cool. We all hung out that day and had dinner and did some media stuff that night. It was kind of nice to to get to know some of the guys away from the track. On Thursday I played in the 17th Annual City of Hope Celebrity Softball Challenge and had a blast. My team lost by one run, but we all had fun and raised a bunch of money for a good cause.
We got to the track on Friday and unloaded pretty fast. We ended up third in the first practice and I think seventh in final practice, so we were all up for a great run in Saturday’s race. The car was pretty loose in qualifying, but I knew it was going to be good for the race. We were running in the top 10 until we made our first pit stop. They had trouble on the front and we ended up two laps down when the caution came out a few laps later. The car was awesome, but there was nothing we could do to get those laps back. It sucked a lot, but we can’t really dwell on it too much. People make mistakes…I know I’ve made a couple this year. We’re taking the same car to Kentucky this weekend, so lookout!

Well, Saturday wasn’t a whole lot of fun. It just seems that no matter what we do something happens almost every week. I got pushed up high on the track a few laps into the race and brushed the wall, but we pitted under the first caution and the guys fixed the damage. Then about 20 laps later the car just shot up the track off of turn two and slammed into the wall. They looked at the tires afterward and something punctured the right front. There was nothing we could have done. It really sucks.
We’re going back to Nashville this weekend and I’m pretty pumped up about that. We had a really good run there in April, and I’m going to participate in a celebrity softball game on Thursday…http://www.cityofhope.org/Music/celebrity_softball.htm

Good morning! I’m up in Washington, D.C., getting ready to leave the hotel. I’m up here to visit the Bethesda Naval Hospital and tour the Navy Criminal Investigative Services headquarters, so it should be a pretty cool day. We’re driving to Dover in the morning. I’m running both the Busch and Truck races there this weekend, so I’m going to be a little busy running back and forth.
I’ve gotta run, but I want to thank everyone who came out to JR Motorsports last week. It was really cool getting to meet so many of my fans who came out for the autograph session on Friday.

Traffic is starting to build in Charlotte as the fans descend for race weeks. I played in a golf tournament earlier today. I had a good time, but that’s not exactly my favorite sport. Things are about to get hectic. Tomorrow I’m at Lowe’s Motor Speedway for the Truck race. I’ll be in the No. 40 Silverado for Key Motorsports. Then I have a few days off. I just got my schedule from my PR person and it looks like I’m going to be busy next week. On Tuesday there’s a crew from WBTV in Charlotte here at JRM for their evening show. On Wednesday I’m signing autographs at Simpson World in Mooresville and Claire B. Lang is doing her XM show from our shop later that day. Thursday I’m at the track all day. On Friday KISS-FM is here and all the JRM drivers — me, Richard Boswell, Scott Young and Curtis Truex Jr. — will sign autographs. That night QVC is also broadcasting their show from our shop. Then I finally get to race on Saturday. The full schedule’s up on the JRM site. Stop by if you’re in town!

It’s just about time to pack for Darlington. I’ve never raced there before, but I’m really looking forward to this weekend. I know the track has a reputation for being pretty tough since it’s old and the surface is pretty worn, but that’s just like most of the tracks I’m used to racing on from my late model and Pro Cup days, so I’m pretty excited to go there. I like tracks that are a challenge and I think the JRM team is up for it this weekend. We’re bringing a great car that’s run really well in the past, so that gives me even more to look forward to.
By the way…according to the schedule my PR girl gave me earlier, I’ll be signing autographs at the souvenir hauler on Friday from 2 - 2:30 p.m., so stop by and see me!

It’s a rainy afternoon in Virginia, so I’ve holed myself up in the motor coach and I’m about to watch “Caddy Shack.” I had planned on riding up to Shenandoah for tonight’s Hooters Pro Cup race, but it’s been raining there a bit today and the forcast isn’t looking too good for tonight. I guess I’ll just stay in and watch a couple more movies instead.
I hope the rain gets through here and it clears up for tomorrow. I was in the garage earlier and the team was dodging rain drops trying to get the car through tech. I think we’ve got a good car for this weekend, so I hope we can get a few laps of practice, qualifying and the race in without dealing with rain. I know rain is really important, but I hate when it rains on race day!
I think qualifying is on SPEED tomorrow, and the race is on ESPN2 tomorrow night at 7:30, so be sure to check it out and cheer for the No. 88 Navy Chevrolet.

We’ve had a ton of down time today, so I figured I’d give ya’ll an update. Practice went OK yesterday. The car handled well, but we weren’t too fast. I think we’ll be good for the race though. The garage opened at 7 a.m. and we don’t go on track until 4 p.m. for qualifying, so the guys have had a lot of time to hang out today.
I finally got around to posting some photos from the USS Cleveland trip, so enjoy!
